Ambassador Edward S. Walsh:
Edward S. Walsh was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Ireland. After Senate confirmation, he was sworn in by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Oval Office of the White House on June 19, 2025.
Ambassador Walsh presented his credentials to the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, on Tuesday July 1, 2025.
Prior to his ambassadorship, Edward Walsh was the founder and president of The Walsh Company, a leading general contracting and project management company headquartered in New Jersey. Since 2003, Mr. Walsh led its expansion into a recognized force in construction and real estate development throughout the tri-state area.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ambassador Walsh has been deeply involved in public service and philanthropy. He served as chairman of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (2010 to 2018), overseeing critical improvements in educational infrastructure throughout the state. A committed philanthropist making a lasting impact on the community, he has contributed to several nonprofit organizations in Morris and Somerset counties such as the American Cancer Society, Somerset Hills Learning Institute, Interfaith Food Pantry of Morristown, Employment Horizons, Jewish Vocational Services, and Family Service of Morris County.
Ambassador Walsh earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University and holds both a Professional Engineering License and a Real Estate License in New Jersey. An avid golfer, he is a member of Trump National Bedminster, where he has won six club championships. He is joined in Ireland by his wife Lynn. They have three adult daughters, Rachel, Maggie, and Anna.
