A stellar lineup of political and economic speakers has been confirmed for this year’s Dublin Economics Workshop, which will take place next month.

This year’s staging of the influential conference, which will take place virtually over five days from Monday 7th September until Friday 11th September, will focus on the economics of the Covid recovery, with specific sessions looking at international business taxation, the labour market, Brexit and housing.

A number of high profile international speakers have confirmed for the conference, including OECD chief economist Ms Laurence Boone and Gabriel Zucman from UC Berkely, as well as a number of Irish-born economists working overseas, such as Philip Lane (European Central Bank) and John Martin (ex-OECD).

The DEW conference this year will also feature a number of political speakers, including Eoin Ó Broin T.D. who will discuss housing and Michael McGrath T.D. who will share his thoughts on the Irish recovery from the Covid pandemic. Ten years on from his last appearance as a keynote speaker at the Dublin Economics Workshop, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar T.D. will also address the conference.

A number of economists from the government’s own in-house think tank, the Irish Government Economic Evaluation Service (IGEES) will present on the latest analysis from within the public service. Other speakers include Katy Hayward (Queens University Belfast), Ronan Lyons (Trinity College Dublin), Frances Ruane (National Competiveness Council), Seamus Coffey (University College Cork) and Aisling Donohoe (Andersen Tax).

Attendance at the conference is free, but booking is required and can be made on the Dublin Economics Workshop website: www.dublineconomics.com/events
