Marian O’Donnell, Media and Public Affairs Manager at Dublin Chamber, commented, “The proposal to pedestrianise Merrion Row shows the power of creative ideas for improving our city centre. This proposal has been business-backed and led from the start and has really captured people’s imaginations for what is possible, not just on Merrion Row, but right across our city."

Dublin Chamber has been a strong supporter of the plan and has welcomed the trial run which will enable all stakeholders, including businesses, transport operators, Dublin City Council, and the public, to see how the project will work.

Marian O’Donnell continued, "The Chamber will be strongly supporting similar projects and trial runs across the city for the summer and longer term. We want people back into the city centre, and projects such as the pedestrianisation of Merrion Row have the potential to create exciting new spaces for hospitality."

“Business right across the city centre are busy planning and preparing for an outdoor summer. Trial runs and temporary build-outs are lifelines for businesses in facilitating an outdoor summer, and if the trials are successful we will be backing businesses in their call for the Council to be ambitious and make these temporary solutions permanent."
