Education & Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) Launches FET Skills Box

Back to Articles

By Chamber Press Office, 25 April 2024

Following the launch earlier this month, the FET Skill Box will be rolled out to up to 50,000 Community College and secondary school students in the country. The Skills Boxes contain ‘career charts’ outlining FET career options and education routes for multiple sectors, including construction, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, business, and climate and green skills.

The initiative aims to raise awareness around the diverse career choices and learning routes available through further education and training. The programme will aid career guidance counsellors in educating their students effectively on their options, as well as ensuring that people who are changing career or looking to upskill are informed about the pathways open to them.

Through the new initiative, the ETBI have highlighted the importance of equipping people with relevant skills, particularly in areas with current shortages. This message was echoed in Dublin Chamber’s recent roundtable discussion on the skills. Dublin Chamber members emphasised the importance of upskilling and training programmes to address skills deficits, meet evolving industry demands and aid talent acquisition. Initiatives like the FET Skills Boxes are essential for fostering a skilled and resilient workforce and sustaining Dublin’s position as a competitive global business hub.
