When attending Leinster House on the 29th of November, Dublin Chamber council members had the opportunity to raise  issues relating to enterprise, as well as matters of safety, when speaking with Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, Minister for Housing, Local government and Heritage, Darragh O’ Brien, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Simon Coveney, and Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary. Additional members of the Oireachtas who engaged with Dublin Chamber council included Labour leader, Deputy Ivana Bacik, Deputy Emer Higgins, Deputy John Lahart, Alan Farrell and many others. 

On 13th of December, Dublin Chamber engaged with representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Corps. Hearing from Minister of Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary TD, as well as Dublin Chamber President, Stephen O’ Leary, there is great cause to remain optimistic for Dublin and Ireland from an international trade perspective.

In addition to Dublin Chamber’s submission on the Transport Development Plan for Dublin City Centre, the Chamber also reiterated its support for Dublin Airport amid the North Runway Planning Appeal. The submission echoes the long-standing support for the daa and Dublin Airport, stating that “International connectivity is crucial for Ireland’s overall competitiveness as an island economy” adding that “Ireland needs to diversify its markets, restore connectivity, and establish new trade routes [post Covid and Brexit].”

Dublin Chamber had frequent engagement with DETE Ministers, Simon Coveny and Neale Richmond, relating to safety in the city. Additionally, in the lead up to the holiday season Dublin Chamber was active in engaging with those from DCC, An Garda Siochana and DETE, promoting retail in the City Centre and advocating for increased visibility of Gardaí, not just over the Christmas period but into 2024.
