Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation Abseiling/Team Building events are taking place in Thomand Park Limerick (May 4th) and Croke Park, Dublin (August 10th).
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is a nationwide charity that funds and provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children with severe to profound neurodevelopmental delay, up to the age of 6. This includes children with brain injury, genetic diagnosis, cerebral palsy and undiagnosed conditions. Another key part of the service is end-of-life care for all children up to the age of 6, irrespective of diagnosis. The child may be tube fed, oxygen dependent, on heavy medication, with over 20 pieces of medical equipment in the home. For exhausted families who are providing around the clock care, Jack and Jill nurses give parents a break, allowing them to do the normal things like catch up on sleep, get in the shopping, or simply spend quality time with their other children. The charity offers an ongoing care commitment for up to 6 years.
Jack and Jill is an Irish charity set up over 25 years ago by two pioneering parents - Mary Ann O’Brien and Jonathan Irwin - based on their family’s experience, caring for their son Jack at home with the help of local nurses, until he passed away at home in Kildare at the age of 22 months. Jack’s home nursing care plan became the blueprint for over 2,800 children who’ve been supported by Jack and Jill since then, as Mary Ann and Jonathan vowed that no parents should have to walk this difficult care journey alone.
