SME Input Needed on EU Skills Recognition

Back to Articles

04 March 2026

The European Commission is inviting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to share their experiences and insights on the challenges of understanding and recognising skills and qualifications across the EU. The consultation also seeks feedback on the recognition of qualifications and the validation of skills for third-country nationals.

The input gathered will help inform the development of the upcoming Skills Portability Initiative, which aims to simplify procedures and reduce administrative burdens for employers. The initiative is intended to make it easier for businesses to recognise talent and qualifications across borders, supporting labour mobility and helping employers access the skills they need.

SMEs are encouraged to take part in the survey and highlight any barriers they have encountered when assessing qualifications or recognising skills from other EU Member States or from outside the EU.
