22 January 2026

How can Ireland’s Apprenticeship System be more responsive to your firm’s skills needs?

The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has launched a public consultation on the new Action Plan for Apprenticeship 2026–2030, which will shape the future direction of Ireland’s apprenticeship system. The plan will set out how apprenticeships can better support skills development, business needs and key national priorities such as housing delivery, infrastructure investment and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Apprenticeships play an increasingly important role across a wide range of sectors, offering structured, work-based pathways into skilled employment and professional qualifications. This consultation is an opportunity for employers to influence how the system evolves, including issues such as employer supports, programme relevance, quality assurance and how apprenticeships can better respond to emerging skills needs.

Dublin Chamber will be making a submission on behalf of members and is keen to get your input. We encourage members to share their feedback, experiences and priorities for Ireland’s apprenticeship system by emailing mia@dublinchamber.ie.
