Dublin Chamber Welcomes Planning Approval for Greater Dublin Drainage Scheme

16 July 2025

Earlier this month, Dublin Chamber welcomed the planning approval of the Greater Dublin Drainage (GDD) Project by An Coimisiún Pleanála. We have been advocating for this project, along with the Eastern and Midlands Water Supply Project, to be progressed for some time and are pleased to see it move through the planning process. The GDD Project will provide essential wastewater treatment for the equivalent of half a million people living and working across the Greater Dublin Area (GDA), serving North Dublin and parts of Meath and Kildare.

The GDD project represents the next major step in the development of wastewater infrastructure for Dublin and its surrounding counties. It is also an essential project urgently required to unlock more housing delivery, along with other critical projects in water, energy and transport. The delivery of the GDD project along with other delayed critical infrastructure projects is vital to ensure that Ireland and Dublin remain attractive places to live, work, do business and invest in.
