To support the EU R&D sector, the EU-Japan Centre, EEN Japan, has managed the Vulcanus internship programme for more than 25 years; bringing Japanese skilled engineering students to EU companies within the frame of a nearly one year long programme.
This successful project offers a win win approach to both EU companies looking to extend their knowledge about Japan, and the young and talented Japanese students spending one year abroad.
Due to Visa local regulations, this programme only targets companies based in:
Austria, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and the Netherlands.
Host a Japanese intern and get a new input into your R&D projects.
The EU-Japan Centre is inviting applications from EU based companies to host Japanese trainees for 6 months, from 14 September 2026 through the 'Vulcanus in Europe' scheme.
The trainees come from leading Japanese universities and are students in engineering, IT, biology, chemistry, and other scientific/high-tech fields. They will be able to communicate in your company’s local EU language.
EU Company’s advantages: a valuable addition to the R&D workforce and an insight into the Japanese culture, extremely useful for successful business with Japan.
Application deadline: 20 September 2025
