Back to Articles

04 November 2026

IPUT has published the third report in its Making Impact series, examining the social, cultural, environmental and economic impact of placemaking initiatives at Wilton Park in Dublin.

The long-term study tracks the development of the neighbourhood between 2023 and 2027, looking at how investment in public space, culture, sustainability and commercial activity can contribute to creating a more vibrant and welcoming part of the city.

The latest report highlights the impact of the reopened Wilton Park and Mary Lavin Place, alongside wider initiatives including artist and writer residencies, improved public spaces and measures designed to support active travel and community engagement. IPUT says the findings reinforce the importance of taking a long-term approach to placemaking and balancing commercial success with social, cultural and environmental outcomes.
