Spinal Injuries Ireland (SII) have announced the start of Fergus Farrell’s walk across America and the employee wellbeing challenge to get everyone moving
Fergus suffered a spinal cord injury (SCI) in 2018 and was given only 5% chance of ever walking again. Through significant rehab and determination, he learned to walk again and has now set out to prove what is possible while living with a hidden disability and the effects of a spinal cord injury.
Starting on 22nd August, he will be taking on the challenge to walk from New York to Santa Monica, California, in 75 days, a journey of over 4,500km. He has committed to raising funds for Spinal Injuries Ireland, the only organisation dedicated to supporting the 2,800 people in Ireland living with a spinal cord injury and their families.
To tie in with his walk, Fergus and Spinal Injuries Ireland are asking companies to not only support but to bring movement into their own lives.
Fergus will walk an incredible 60km almost everyday while he is in the USA. SII are asking companies and organisation to take on their own movement challenge and to either walk, run or roll 60km in a month. Or for those really seeking more of a challenge, try covering 60km in a week or even one day!
To help support Spinal Injuries Ireland’s vital services and supports, participants are asked to raise €60 or more each, a minimum of €1 for each KM covered.
