International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has appointed Stephen Barry as a Senior Partner within the Disputes practice in Ireland, adding to the firm’s expertise in Planning, Environmental law and Dispute Resolution.

Stephen joins Addleshaw Goddard from Eversheds Sutherland, where he spent over 20 years specialising in complex litigation, planning and environmental disputes, as well as regulatory investigations across the infrastructure, energy, and development sectors. Having represented clients in several high-profile cases before Ireland’s specialist Planning and Environmental Court, Stephen has led landmark commercial litigation and judicial review cases. He also provides strategic advice on crisis management situations, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support in complex and challenging matters.

Stephen has extensive experience advising developers, financial institutions and private equity on all aspects of planning law, both contentious and non-contentious. He has been involved at every stage of the planning process, from pre-submission through to enforcement and has acted in prominent cases involving some of Ireland’s major infrastructure developments.

In addition, Stephen is Chairperson of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association and has handled various regulatory challenges, including health and safety and industrial accidents.
