BusConnects is one of the largest infrastructure initiatives ever undertaken by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Government’s Climate Action Plan and the National Development Plan. Over the past 18 months, the NTA has secured planning approval for 12 major schemes, which together will deliver more than 200 km of dedicated bus and cycle lanes across the Greater Dublin Area. This investment will significantly improve sustainable transport options for those who live, work, and visit Dublin.
The first project to move into construction will be the Liffey Valley to City Centre Scheme. Last month, the NTA awarded the first BusConnects Dublin Infrastructure contract to the Irish company GMC Group Ltd, and construction for this scheme is scheduled to commence in the coming weeks. Looking ahead, the NTA plans to award a contract for the Ballymun to Finglas Scheme in the coming months, with construction expected to begin in early 2026.
