Our popular Momentum series provides Chamber members with access to some of the most exciting start-up founders and entrepreneurs who have successfully scaled their businesses. These events are a great source of knowledge and learning for those seeking to take their business to the next level, with speakers offering unique insights into the challenges they have overcome and the lessons they have learnt on their journey to success. Themes for 2022 include people, finance, digital transformation and business strategy and operations. Speaker

Devan Hughes, CEO & co-founder of buymie

buymie is Ireland and UK’s fastest-growing same-day large basket grocery delivery service. Founded in Dublin in 2016, buymie is now expanding rapidly, allowing more customers to order from their favourite large retailers and have their items delivered, store to door, in as little as an hour. Consumers have come to expect same-day grocery delivery and traditional retailers are constrained by marginal costs. Through the use of platform economics, buymie accelerates delivery while owning no vans, no stores or holding any stock. buymie raised €8m during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and launched its service into Cork, Limerick and Galway as well as Bristol in the UK. The buymie service has now been used by 1 in 10 households in Dublin.
Devan Hughes has extensive experience in commercial and operational efficiency with specific expertise in platform economics and architecture.
Having also held the role of Chairman for Sharing Economy Ireland, Devan is a recognised thought leader in the Platform Economy and FMCG industry.

Sharon Keilthy, Founder & CEO, Jiminy Eco Toys

Sharon Keilthy is founder and CEO of Jiminy Eco Toys - an activist business that exists to inspire a playfully sustainable world. Sharon graduated top of her class from Engineering in UCD, started her first business a year later, then spent 13 years at global management consultancy McKinsey & Co.

In 2018 she went shopping for her daughter's 4th birthday gift. She wanted something locally-made and plastic-free, but came out of the store empty handed. Toys is the world's most plastic-intensive industry, with 90% made from petroleum, releasing so much CO2 we'd have to plant 1 billion trees to absorb it.

Sharon decided to change that by setting-up the toystore she wished the others were - climate-kind and minimal-waste, full of toys made locally from natural or recycled materials - to make it easy for people to both delight their kids and protect their planet.

Jiminy now offers over 750 such toys to the public via www.jiminy.ie and also sells wholesale to shops. You may have seen it on RTE News, the Late Late Toy Show, or the Irish Times 100 Retailers list. It won the Business Spirit Award 2020 (Dublin City Council) and came 2nd in Small Business Website of the Year 2021 (Digital Business Ireland).

Sharon speaks and organises for change in the global toy industry. She just co-founded a global toy sustainability learning community, and her toy sustainability speech is on the curriculum of the world's only toy design degree, at the prestigious Otis College in Los Angeles.

Stephen Crowley, CFO, Flipdish

Stephen Crowley is CFO at Flipdish, where he has led $44m Series B and $100m Series C funding, achieving unicorn status for the Dublin-founded scale-up with a $1.25bn valuation in January 2022. Since joining Flipdish in 2018, Stephen has helped grow the organisation to 300+ staffers, and the business to over 27 markets.
Stephen is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and he also holds a distinction from the IATI. Prior to Flipdish, Stephen has held leadership roles for the last 15 years across regions including the UK, US, Canada and the UAE. Whilst working with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Stephen led Ireland’s largest IPO ( 3rd largest IPO in Europe).
