Thermal treatment is an important part of the mix of facilities that will deal with the Dublin region's waste in the future, as our dependence on landfill is tackled.
Poolbeg has been chosen as the site for the region's thermal treatment plant for municipal waste. The development of a plant has taken an important step forward with the appointment of a preferred bidder, and the statutory consultation phase is due to start in early 2006.
Dublin City Council hopes that construction and commissioning of the Poolbeg facility will be completed by 2010.
