Dublin needs to adopt a vision for its future direction, Dublin Chamber told City Councillors.
Addressing the final meeting of Dublin City Council (10/5/2204) before the forthcoming local elections, Dublin Chamber of Commerce presented its Dublin 2020 Vision report, which outlines the kind of city which Dublin could realistically aspire to be in 2020.
The report addresses five key themes:
- Dublin as an internationally competitive city
- Knowledge base
- Lifestyle and quality of life issues
- Core infrastructure
- Urban governance structures
The report also outlines a series of policy measures under each of those themes which will enable the vision to be delivered.
The report was broadly welcomed by the leaders of the political parties and the other groupings within the City Council.
Clive Brownlee, outgoing Chamber President, said that the next step should be the creation of a Forum for Dublin which would allow all groupings to engage in debate on how Dublin's future direction should be addressed.
