The Chamber has engaged with Dublin City Council over their revised proposals for restricting commercial deliveries in the city centre. While supporting the freeflow aim, the Chamber hopes to minimise the potential negative effects of these proposals on the cost of doing business in the city.
The Director of Traffic confirmed to the Chamber that he intends to introduce restrictions on commercial deliveries - as a pilot programme - on a limited number of streets in the city centre at the end of this summer, reviewing their impact after 3-4 months. The proposals oblige all commercial deliveries made outside of the existing delivery bays on certain arterial routes in the City Centre, such as Dame St, to be made between 1900hrs-0700hrs or else 1000hrs-1230hrs.
The Chamber is leading the Dublin business grouping that is advising the Director of Traffic on a code of practice that will apply to all those involved in deliveries on the affected streets.
