What’s the perfect date in Dublin? To help celebrate Valentine’s Day, Dublin Chamber has today launched a search for the best idea for a date in Dublin.

To help people to dream up ideas, the Chamber took to the streets of the Capital earlier this week to ask the people why they love their city and for details of their favourite ever dates in Dublin. The best responses have been compiled together to create a charming short video which offers a unique insight into Dublin’s credentials as a romantic city.

The ‘I Love Dublin Because’ video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUU9TJJkORw

The Chamber is calling on Dubliners to share why they love their city on social media, using the hashtag #iLoveDublinBecause. The person who submits the best comment will win a date with Dublin, including a meal and a show for two in the city. The competition runs until Saturday.

According to Dublin Chamber’s Head of Public Affairs Graeme McQueen: "Dubliners are typically proud of their home city. That’s why we’ve set out to identify exactly what it is that people love about Dublin. What better time to kick off that search than Valentine’s Day. To help get people thinking about what it is that makes Dublin so special, we sent a camera crew out on to the streets of Dublin and asked as many people as we could about why they are fond of Dublin. We also asked them to share what their ideal date in the city would be. The responses ranged from the romantic to the hilarious. While some spoke about the usual suspects - meeting under the Clery’s clock, strolling through St Stephen’s Green etc, a whole host of other answers emerged, ranging from fish and chips on Howth Pier, to a visit to Dalymount Park to watch football and a late night Fibber Magee’s pub. Thankfully Dublin is the type of city that can cater for just about every date that anyone can imagine!"
